Welcome to Colonial Carolina Summer Camp!

Welcome to Colonial Carolina Summer Camp!  The Drayton Hall team is so excited to welcome this week’s camper-historians!

Day 1:  Fun, education, and exploration.   Based upon historical research and archaeology conducted on site, Ms. Betsy taught campers about the culture and lifestyle of Native American communities of the region.  They fashioned bracelets using beads much like those the Native Americans so highly valued.  Our campers enjoyed decorating their own walking sticks, which accompanied them throughout the property all morning.  During a nature walk, led by Ms. Liz, camper-historians explored the Drayton Hall grounds through history and nature.  They filled blank canvases with art using natural resources.    During these adventures campers recorded observations, thoughts, and ideas through word and image.  These booklets will go home with their authors at the end of the week and serve as a scrapbook of their time with us at Drayton Hall.  Parents – get excited!  These booklets give you the opportunity to experience Drayton Hall through your child’s eyes.

What will tomorrow hold?  We’ll see in the morning!
