Adult Group Tours

Why do groups keep coming back here year after year? First and foremost, it’s because Drayton Hall offers something unique in our modern world: authenticity. Founded in 1738, it’s the only 18th-century plantation house on the Ashley River to survive intact to present day and a masterpiece of Georgian-Palladian architecture. Then it’s the full range of options offered for groups of every size and customized to their interests, including professionally guided tours of Drayton Hall’s main house, an interactive program on African American history, a hands-on program on archaeology, and packages with Charleston’s premier historic sites. Whether your group is interested in architecture, the Revolutionary War, decorative arts, or African-American history, we will work with you to craft an unforgettable experience.

Tour Leader Favorite

Are you looking for a more distinctive experience, tailored to your interests, and given by a specially-trained senior interpreter? Drayton Hall’s Connoisseur Tour does just that. You’ll see historical photographs and hear entries from family diaries and plantation logs that are not part of regular guided house tours. Recent Connoisseur Tours have focused on architecture, decorative arts, African American history, wining and dining, and preservation.

“Thank you so much for the incredible Connoisseur Tour! Our club members couldn’t stop talking about it.”

—Lauren Fuy, Mary Washington Preservation Club
