A Tale of Two Cities: A Shared Preservation History?

Author and preservation activist Anthony Wood and Charleston’s Peter McGee will meet to discuss two cities – New York and Charleston – and the steps taken to preserve their historic and architectural treasures. This fascinating evening is open to the public and takes place in the Rotunda of the Gibbes Museum on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a light reception at 7:00 p.m. Space is limited! Annual Spring Candlelight Concerts at Drayton Hall

Drayton Hall’s 2008 Candlelight Concerts will feature rising young stars Uruguayan soprano Maria Antunez and tenor Martin Nusspaumer who will sing love songs and arias in Italian and Spanish, accompanied at the piano by Benny John Plasencia from Peru. Also featured on the program will be Japanese pianist Yusuke Komura, Peruvian violinist Jimena Lovon and South Carolina cellist Wade Davis, who will perform chamber works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Tommaso Vitali, and the famous D minor Trio by Felix Mendelssohn. The Latest Innovation in Museum Exploration: The Voices of Drayton Hall DVD

For the first time, visitors can experience Drayton Hall through the stories and voices of its people in an interactive landscape tour on DVD. At the forefront of a ground-breaking National Trust for Historic Preservation initiative to improve interpretation at historic sites, "The Voices of Drayton Hall" is a self-guided companion piece to Drayton Hall's interpreter-led house tour.
