Our new museum galleries at Drayton Hall make it possible to display the Drayton furniture known to have been commissioned for the Main House by John Drayton as it was being built. This is an incredibly exciting time for Drayton Hall and our visitors.

Some of the most magnificent examples of fine hand-carved furniture in the world from the mid-18th century had been tucked away in our collections waiting for galleries in which to display them properly. With the completion of the new Stephen and Laura Gates Gallery at Drayton Hall, we finally have the opportunity to share the furniture and other collections in a museum setting.

Critical to the research, preservation, and care of all the pieces in our collections is Curator Sarah Stroud Clarke who drops in to the Gates Gallery at Drayton Hall to share with our guests the remarkable journey the Hairy Paw Suite made to arrive at Drayton Hall, how it was removed, and how it finally returned one day hundreds of years later.

Drayton Hall’s Weekly Curator Gallery Talk Series is presented on Friday’s at 12:30 pm. These talks are included in your admission and membership. This is a wonderful weekly opportunity to hear the stories we are not able to fit on to the walls of our galleries. Lunch is served at Rudi’s Café; making for a perfect weekly Friday outing to the new Drayton Hall. No reservations are required, simply meet in the Gallery.
